Hi.

If you want to be old, fast, and strong, welcome! I'll do my best to inform, inspire, and link to others.

Week of 2/4: Polishing the Chrome

Week of 2/4: Polishing the Chrome

This is meet week so this is taper week. As Jeff says, "You won't get stronger. Time to polish the chrome."

Monday, February 5, Gym, 6 a.m.

3 sets of triples at 70% or so

Dynamic Warm Up, then

Squat 3 x 205 x 3

Bench 3 x 155 x 3

Deadlift 3 x 275 x 3

Easy. In and out.

Wednesday, February 7, Gym, 6 a.m.

Dynamic Warm Up, then

Squat 3 x 205 x 3

Bench 3 x 155, 1 x 175, 1 x 195 all on command

Deadlift 3 x 275 x 3

We got our openers and progressions from Jeff today. Here are mine for the meet Saturday:

Squat opener 259, then 281-286, then 292-303

Bench opener 192, then 198-203, then 214-220

Deadlift opener 363, then 385, then 402

There should be no problem with the openers; two of the second attempts would be meet PRs, plus 874 as a meet total PR, and the big number, if I hit it, is 925, which would include three meet PRs as well as meet total PR.

This is about as it should be. The preparation has led to this. The performance has led to this. I need to crush the openers, and then go about the business of making stuff happen. None of the big numbers are beyond my capability. I am plenty strong enough physically. I need to be strong enough mentally to get it done.
